When I am sad, I spend time working in my garden.  There is an energy there that gives unconditionally.  Using my spade, broom and secateurs, digging and mixing my sorrow into the soil, I can pour my heart out in the garden and return to the house with my heart full.    

These artworks are a growing collection of a cast of characters that grow tenaciously in a sloped and rocky garden right outside my studio.  This steep site was previously a neglected dumping ground for all sorts of leftovers.  Since 2017, I have slowly reclaimed and nurtured it into a thriving indigenous garden filled with a chorus of chillers (shade loving plants), grillers (sun loving plants) and thrillers (those that steal the show!)  The plants have been gifted from various gardens of friends across Johannesburg, and some I have collected by taking a sneaky cutting from a public park or rescued from the side of the road.
